Christal Floyd Is Pouring Purpose Into Every Bottle with Divine Libations
In a space where less than 1% of U.S. winemakers are Black—and only 0.1% are Black women—Christal Floyd is boldly reshaping the narrative. As the founder of Divine Libations, a handcrafted cocktail and mobile bar service rooted in elegance, culture, and community, Floyd isn’t just making drinks—she’s making history.
With Divine Libations, Floyd blends spirits with soul, curating experiences that celebrate Black excellence, sisterhood, and joy. But breaking into a predominantly white, male-dominated industry hasn’t been easy. From fighting for supplier access to being overlooked at tastings, Floyd’s journey reflects the uphill battle many Black women face in the alcohol and winery business.
Still, she persists—and thrives.
“Representation matters in every space,” Floyd shares on her site. “I created Divine Libations not just to serve, but to be seen, to create a seat at the table for those who’ve been told they don’t belong.”
She’s not alone in the fight. A report by the Association of African American Vintners (AAAV) reveals that despite significant growth in Black wine culture, fewer than 70 Black-owned wine brands operate in the U.S., and even fewer receive distribution opportunities equal to their white counterparts.

That hasn’t stopped Floyd. With her Black Girl Magic cocktail classes, personalized bar experiences, and commitment to customer service, she’s creating more than just buzz—she’s building a brand powered by inclusion and creativity.
As she scales her company, Floyd is also nurturing community: collaborating with other women-owned businesses, mentoring aspiring bartenders, and challenging stereotypes one pour at a time.
Divine Libations isn’t just a brand—it’s a movement. In a world where access is power, Christal Floyd is raising the bar—and making sure it’s stocked with both courage and class.
